Write an essay that explains a concept.  Choose a concept that interests you and that you want to study further.  Consider carefully what your readers already know about it and how your essay might add to what they know.

What's a concept?
Con-cept  (noun)
1. A general idea derived or inferred from specific instances or occurrences.
2. Something formed in the mind; a thought or notion

Examples:
Hero, antihero, genre, canon, modernism, metaphor, simile, figurative language, existentialism, nihilism, determinism, justice, majority rule, populism, evolution, political machine, alcoholism, addiction, seasonal affective disorder, contraception, harmony, back beat, rhythm, bossa nova, racism, prejudice, sexism, homophobia, friendship, rivalry, leader, love, hate, fear, dread, extrovert, pick and roll, etc.

You will need to do the following:

        1. Include a Works Cited page
        2. Use at least 2 sources
        3. Choose a focused concept
        4. Define the concept
        5. Compare and contrast the concept
        6. Use examples to define the concept
        7. Describe the concept
        8. Classify and organize information on the concept
        9. Synthesize and summarize authoritative sources
        10. Convey helpful and interesting information about the concept
